Lormalinux Samba File Server beta 2 |

By default, samba fileserver was set to full access mode. It means that accessing through the network with your windows machines enables you to read, write, or delete the files inside the shared folder of your lormalinux samba server box. But you can also restrict the access level if you want to. There is this file /etc/samba/smb.conf which you can edit and configure the way you want your samba server to be, and in every single line there is an explanation. There is also a second option which I think the easiest way of configuring your server is to use the GUI front-end included in this Distro, the WEBMIN.
The good thing about this distro is that it is a one time installation setup. It's very easy to install. Once you have done partitioning your drives and running the "# setup" command as instructed before installation, you don't need to do anything except hitting the "Return Key" of your keyboard. That's how easy this Distro for newbie users. Right after your first boot of this server, everything works fine. Webmin, Samba, and other important services are already up and running.
But there are also such things that you should know about this preconfigured setup of this Distro:
- The default shared folder is your /tmp directory.

- You can access your webmin with the "admin" account with "NO PASSWORD".
eg. http://192.168.0.1:10000
username: admin
password:

A little tips:
- To check the status on current Samba connections, simply type to the console:
# /usr/bin/smbstatus
- To stop or restart your samba:
# /etc/rc.d/rc.samba stop/start/restart
- To change your webmin password:
# /usr/libexec/webmin/changepass.pl /etc/webmin admin <newpassword>
