Lormalinux 5 LTSP-Server Slackware Edition is Now Released. PDF Print E-mail

A unique variant of LTSP based on Slackware with all-loved packages optimized and customized for ease of use and functionality.

Give it a try and let the setup speaks for itself. A holiday gift for all Educational and Business Institution willing to expand the capabilities of a thin-client network setting.

Here are some unique features:

  1. Edited the slackware installer for ease of use and installation. A press of the 'Enter' key will lead the ease of installation. All packages have been preselected for the setup.
  2. Packed the distro in 1 CD installer
  3. Most of the packages are pre-configured; ltsp works fine right after the installation. The user need not to run any script or edit any ltsp parts.
  4. Common popular packages included:
    • Quanta plus - for web development
    • Gimp - for - for manipulation of digital images
    • Thunderbird 0.9 - standalone mail and newsgroup client
    • Mozilla-Firefox 1.0 - for web browsing needs
      * equipped with the following plugins
      • Java

      • RealPlayer
      • Flash Player
    • Rdesktop - for remote desktop connection
    • Mplayer - serve as the default movie player
    • Gaim - instant messenger client. eg yahoo, AIM, ICQ, IRC

    • Gftp - multithreaded FTP client
    • K3b - for CD/DVD burning
    • Xmms - mp3 player
    • koffice - office productivity suit; substitute for openoffice and microsoft office
    • nano - a common text editor
    • slapt-get - for updating packages from slackware repositories

  5. LTSP - README file included in the ISO - contains sample and information on setting up LTSP
  6. ltspcg - simple script for easy configuration of the LTSP also included
  7. User-friendly KDE interface
